Naturalization

The League is represented at the Lehigh County Naturalization Ceremonies where we hand out a package of materials useful for new citizens. Members are welcome to assist.  Email a request to Caryn Shoenthal, Member, LWVLC, at email@lwvlehighcounty.org.  The ceremony is always very emotional for anyone who attends and is open to all.

CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Naturalization Volunteers received a letter in June of 2020 from Andrea E. Naugle, Recorder of Deeds, Lehigh County Courthouse Register of Wills, concerning the 2020 Naturalization Ceremonies.

“In light of the current pandemic, the number of individuals able to attend the upcoming 2020 Naturalization Ceremonies will be strictly limited to twenty-five candidates and no additional family members or guests. President Reibman will be adding some additional dates in 2020 in order to help with the back log of candidates awaiting Naturalization. We will contact you with the new scheduled dates as soon as they are determined and any future changes of the ceremony process.

“If you would still like to provide something for the new citizens on behalf of your organization, we would be happy to do that for you as long as you inform us and deliver your twenty-five (25) items to us the day or two prior to that scheduled ceremony.”

Caryn Shoenthal, our local League’s longtime representative at the Naturalization Ceremonies, now delivers 25 information packets to this office to be made available at the next ceremony.
